After bad weather reports on Saturday we ended up at the Climbingworks for the day to start our trip up to North Yorkshire. We set off on Saturday night and having a camper van, we found a quiet layby to park up in. The next day we were at Brimham Rocks. Not been here before but really liked it, though felt a bit out place with so many families walking around and people asking us what the big things were that we were carrying around on our backs (bouldering mats). The weather held out for us so we spent the whole day there.

The next day, Monday, we arrived at Crooke Stones. An umpromising looking area but has some good quality boulders there. Its a bit gritty due to lack of traffic but definetly one of the more scenic looking areas I’ve been to.

Photos coming shortly….

BBC FinalA very wet weekend was in store after a lot of Sheffield had severe weather warnings. The warm up area was tiny and with over 50 men entering and about 20 women it was quite cramped!!

My qualifier went really well topping 8 out of 10 problems. When we had finished we were straight into isolation so the route setters could get on with setting the final problems. We were only in there 1 hour, the first person was back out. By the sounds of the crowd, the first problem was quite tricky as no one had got up it first go. It was my turn to climb and i dispatched the first problem first go, but it went a bit down hill from there as the harder problems were still to come.

Overall I came 2nd place. So its back to training to get better for next year!

Finally finish college this month so now my climbing has my complete undivided attention that it’s been waiting for for the last 18 years!! Apart from work that is ;)  Also after having picked up Berghaus sponsorship, hopefully things can materialise in the Peak District but also the whole of the UK, now that my boyfriend has bought a campervan!!

My next event is the British Bouldering Championships at the Cliffhanger show in Sheffields Graves Park on the 14th July. Then after that, The Bruntwood Aerial Assault at the The Rat Race event in Manchester on the 11th and 12th of August.

I’ll let you know my next movements and sends soon.
